The best place to start after you have decided to have your
own web site is with the name. A Domain Name, in the USA, can be anything you decide providing it's available.
What's all this .COM, .NET, .ORG stuff? The suffix .com is for commercial use, .net is for servers of a certain size and or location, .org is for mainly non-profit organizations, .edu is for educational institutions, .mil is for the military. The rules for the use of these suffixs have not been enforced in recent years, so if it's available, it's now fair game. Some countries now have begun issuing domain names with their country
code as a suffix. (.UK=United Kingdom)
